Man dead after fatal three car accident in Matagorda County

A Matagorda man is dead after his car struck two vehicles Monday afternoon in rural Matagorda County.

According to Texas DPS PIO Sergeant Stephen Woodard, Donald Ray Floyd was driving southbound on FM 2031 when he, for unknown reasons, swerved into oncoming traffic, colliding with a car towed by a Chevy Suburban before striking a Chrysler Aspen head on. Floyd was killed on impact. He was sixty years old. The driver of the Chrysler Aspen, Joann Garay of Van Vleck, was taken to Matagorda Regional Medical Center in stable condition. The driver of the Chevy Suburban was unharmed in the accident. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
