Zayda Cedillo has played her final round of golf for East, and it happened at the state 5A championship.. The Titan senior shoots an 82 in round two at White Wing golf club in Georgetown.  Cedillo finished 27th. Cedillo had no birdies, six bogies, and a quadruple bogie on the par five 12th. Titan girls golf head coach Mike Smith told me Zayda played pretty well in the final round, much better than in round one.
Yoakum girls golf, winding up in tenth place at the state 3aA tourney at Gray Rock in Austin.

The Lady Bulldogs shot 414 in round two, 16 shots better than their first round score. Lauren Sternadell of Yoakum finished 19th at 187 after a 91 Tuesday.. Rachel White of Palacios, finishing 18th, one shot ahead of Sternadell. Lexi Mitchell of Edna finishes at 194, Madison Smith of Yoakum at 197, Saxstin Clark of Yoakum at 217, Shelby Stary of Yoakum at 243, Carly Hull of Yoakum at 273. In 2A, Kaylee Duesser of Yorktown shot 117-94-211.

University of Houston-Victoria head golf coach Christi Cano today announced the signing of Corpus Christi Miller senior Ethan Barrera to the men’s golf team.

Barrera is a four-year letterman with the Miller golf team and captured the District 30-5A individual medalist honor this season. He went on to finish 13th at the Region IV-5A Tournament posting a score of 84-81-165.

The District 30-5A MVP also collected two other individual wins this season along with two other top-10 finishes.

He earned honorable mention all-district honors his first three years in high school, has been named to the District All-Academic Team for three straight years and was honorable mention of the Texas High School Coaches Association’s Academic All-State team this year.

He earned recognition of the permanent honor roll at Miller as well.

“It’s been a dream of mine to pursue golf at the college level and I know that UHV is where I need to be,” said Barrera in signing his letter of intent with the Jaguars.

Barrera plans to study physical therapy while attending UHV.
