Generals Add Two Players, Need More Host Families

The Generals get another two players for this season. Another season of the Texas Collegiate League begins next week, and the Victoria Generals have announced two additions to the team from Georgia Gwinnett College in Lawrenceville, Georgia. Second basemen Cam Coursey and catcher Nick Barnes will take the field for the Generals this season.

Cam Coursey, a freshman from Sugar Hill, Georgia, was a standout during his playing days at Lanier High School in Sugar Hill. Coursey was selected to the first team all-county and all-region teams, as well as the Georgia Dugout Club all-state team in 2016. Along with is play on the field, Coursey was also selected as a 2016 U.S. Army Scholar Athlete. Coursey is currently hitting .497 with the Grizzlies, which sits second nationally in the NAIA.  

Nick Barnes, a freshman from Monroe, Georgia, looks to add power hitting and catching to the team this summer. Barnes holds the Monroe Area High School home run record, and has 7 home runs and 48 RBI’s with the Grizzlies this year. Barnes also earned all-state, all-region, and all-county honors during his high school playing days.

The Generals will begin their season on May 25th, as they will be on the road to take on the Texas Marshals in a two-game series. The Generals home opener will be on May 29th against the Marshals, which will be a Free Ticket Night presented by TISD Internet Service. Fans can go by 1502 E. Red River to get their free tickets. Season tickets for the Generals 2018 season are on sale now, and fans can buy tickets and merchandise at the team store located at 1307-H East Airline Road, or by calling 361-485-9522.
