(VICTORIA, TX) –  The Victoria Fire Department will be celebrating National EMS Week from May 20 through May 26. National Emergency Medical

Services (EMS) Week is designated as a time to honor the dedicated EMS professionals, including emergency medical technicians and paramedics from

the Victoria Fire Department, who serve the citizens in our community every day.

The Fire Department has several activities planned throughout the week. The week’s activities will kick-off on Monday, May 21 with a Medical Director’s

Roundtable, led by the Department’s Medical Director, Dr. John McNeill. Dr. McNeill share some words of inspiration and encouragement to the Medics, and

members of the Department will be recognized with Life Saving Awards. This year’s theme is “EMS Strong: Stronger Together.”

On Wednesday, May 23, the community is invited to attend an EMS Open House and Public Education Event from 4-6:30 pm at Victoria Fire Station No. 6,

located at 1101 Ball Airport Rd. There will be tours of the fire station, equipment demonstrations and an opportunity to meet the Firefighters, EMTs and

paramedics that serve our community.

For the Victoria Fire Department, the goal of EMS Week is to enhance the well-being and safety of our Community through a Public Education effort, as well

as bring together local community members to honor the dedication of those who provide the day-to-day lifesaving medical services on the front line.

A public education event will be held at Wednesday’s Open House and will include Hands Only CPR demonstrations presented by Citizens Medical Center

and DeTar Healthcare System, as well as Stop the Bleed demonstrations presented by Golden Crescent Regional Advisory Council. The event also

includes a helicopter display, ATV/UTV displays provided by Velocity Power Sports and fire safety presentations by the Victoria Fire Marshal’s Office and
