Victoria County approve sale of Memorial Day fireworks

Posted: Updated:

Victoria County Commissioners approved the sale of fireworks outside City limits for Memorial Day Weekend, in preparation of Memorial Day festivities, during their weekly Monday meeting.

The sale period will begin on May 24th and ends on May 29th. Cen-Tex Fireworks, an international fireworks manufacturer, requested the approval of the sale last week. According the County Judge Ben Zeller, a formal request must be made before fireworks can be sold in Victoria County, which the county was happy to approve. In addition, all retail fireworks permit holders will be authorized to sell fireworks during this time period.

County Judge Zeller was quick to point the sale of fireworks during this time will only take place as the weather holds. In the event that a drought forms in Victoria County, and a burn ban is issued because of the drought, the County will void the order as needed. Otherwise, retail fireworks permit holders will only be authorized to sell fireworks until May 29th, where it will again be illegal to sell until another formal request or order is approved.
