Tanker truck spills 7000 gallons of fuel along Highway 59

A tanker rollover closed a portion of Highway 59 on Saturday morning. According to a press release from the Victoria Fire Department at 7:05am the VFD responded to a report of a tanker rollover at 15695 Hwy 59 North.

[Once] on [the] scene units reported an 18 wheeler had rolled over and spilled most of the 7000 gallons of diesel fuel the unit was carrying.

The driver was transported to Citizens Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

The tanker sustained a large hole [during] the rollover that prevented VFD Hazmat personnel from being able to contain the contents of the tank.

Four VFD units responded with a total of 7 personnel. The diesel [fuel] was contained to the ditch with diking materials.

A hazmat team hired by the transport company, from Houston was in-bound to mitigate the incident.
