Port Lavaca PD tagging junked vehicles

The Port Lavaca Police department is patrolling areas of the city to identify junked vehicles, boats, and trailers in roadways. Officers will tag vehicles for removal by the owner.

in an effort to clean up the neighborhoods, the Port Lavaca police are hitting the streets ready to tag any junk vehicles in the roadway.

Officers have targeted specific neighborhoods inducing the La Salle Landing Subdivision, to identify junked vehicles.

The department enforces this all year long as part of a city ordinance.

In the ordinance, junk which is located on any private lot, occupied or unoccupied, visible from any public place or right-of-way is detrimental to the safety and welfare of the general public.

The department will continue the tagging process throughout the city.

Once a vehicle is identified, it will be "tagged" for removal from the roadway.

The owner will then have 72 hours to remove the property from the roadway once the property is tagged.
