UHV baseball, taking on A&M-International, and the weather, in a Riverside doubleheader Wednesday night. UHV lost the first game, 4-2, with former Titan Zachariah Vela getting an RBI for the Jaguars. In game two, after the visitors got six in the second, El Campo native Collin Quinn came on in relief to stop any more damage. VISD exes Vela, Alec Cruz and Garrett Harrison get game two RBI's for the Jaguars, but they still get swept, 7-3. UHV baseball, back at Riverside for a doubleheader at noon Saturday against Prairie View A&M.
UHV softball's road conference game at Schreiner in Kerrville Thurday, postponed due to rain. The Jaguars will now play there in a doubleheader on Tuesday, March 20. UHV softball's travel plans to start conference play last weekend, not affected by the weather.
The Jaguars almost wished they had been rained out. UHV, the pre-season favorites to win the Red River conference, got swept in a four-game series at Huston-Tillotson. certainly not what the UHV players expected, and I talked with two of them about those losses. Said outfielder Gabby Davila, "Last weekend was definitely disappointing for us, but all we can do is move on and keep working hard and we're gonna get it." Said pitcher/third baseman Kelsey Tidrick, "It was a tough loss. We definitely got it handed to us. But the only way we can go from here is up. We just have to work hard, get ready for our next conference games." 

The home opener for the University of Houston-Victoria softball team will come about two weeks early.

The Jaguars were scheduled to make their first home appearance on March 9, but instead will make it this Saturday when they host Southwestern Assemblies of God in a noon doubleheader at the Victoria Youth Sports Complex.

The Jaguars come into the game with a 2-4 record, while the Lady Lions are 7-5-1.
