VISD Soccer Tuesday Roundup

A busy Tuesday night of district soccer for VISD teams. 

East girls soccer remains undefeated in district after shutting out Foster 4-0.  Kyleigh Spree-Kolos had 2 goals in the 1st half.  The first one was unassisted after only 5 minutes of play.  The 2nd goal was off a free kick.  2nd half goals were made by Chloe Spencer assisted by  Spree-Kolos.  Jonbenet Limon scored the last goal off an assist by Kaylee Brewer.Sandra Grifaldo had 4 saves in goal; while Reagan Gonzalez helped out with 12 steals.  Their record is now 10-5-1,5-0.

West girls soccer falls to 3-2 in district after losting at Angleton, 2-0. Kristina Gonzalez made 12 saves for the Warriors.

East boys soccer ends up with a win and a tie at Foster. The game was 1-1 after regulation. Luis Barboza with the Titans goal, assisted by Trystan Stanford. East gets the win in penalty kicks, 6-5, but it officially counts as a tie. Titan boys now 4-0-1 in district. West boys now 0-4-1. They finished regulation at Memorial Stadium in a scoreles, but lost in penalty kicks, 4-3. Friday night, West girls and East boys play at Memorial Stadium. Warrior girls will play Lamar Consolidated, Titan boys face Calhoun. That same night, East girls play at Calhoun, West boys visit Lamar Consolidated.

      Industrial football, looking to make as long a run as its volleyball team did in the playoffs. Our David Gibson, at Ricebird stadium for the Cobras and Rice Consolidated, 3a division one bi-district. First play of the game Rice's Devin Sims takes the hand off and runs for a big gain before being tackled.  On the same drive the Raiders running back takes the ball and barrels his way all the way down to the 2 yard line.

    • Yoakum Pulls Away Late, Beats Columbus

      It wasn't pretty at times, but the Bulldogs got it done.  Yoakum beat Columbus, 30-13, in Hallettsville on Friday, pulling away in the fourth quarter to punch their ticket to the area round for the second consecutive season.
