Old rivals square off in the 3A girls Bi-District hoops playoffs Monday night. Our Howard Esse, in Cuero for Edna vs. Yoakum.  Junior Lexi Reyes scores 14 points. Edna moves on with the 54-43 win. Melani Guzman leading the Cowgirls with 18 points, 15 for Keyshia Callis. Edna will face either Poth or Johnson City in the Area playoffs. I was at the Faith Academy Nextgen Center as the Cougars, with a playoff spot in hand, hosted Universal City in district action.  Jonathan Boehm, on his way to a 17 point night, as the Faith boys win big, 70-41. 14 points, 14 boards for Austin Cade. Ten and Ten for Tanner Moore. Faith Academy boys basketball plays for the district title Tuesday night at Shiner St. Paul. Faith Academy girls basketball clinches a playoff spot with a 61-41 win over Universal CIty, . 31 points for April Chapa, 14 for Jade Thomas. Lady Cougars host their first round playoff against Bryan Allen Academy Saturday afternoon at 1:00. St. Joe girls soccer season ends in their TAPPS 5A Area playoff on the road Monday night, 7-1 to San Antonio St. Mary's Hall.

      The Bobcats' offense looks like it can't be stopped. Refugio defeated Yorktown 75-0 in Karnes City on Friday, marking the sixth straight week the team has eclipsed the 55-point threshold. First play of the game Rice's Devin Sims takes the hand off and runs for a big gain before being tackled.  On the same drive the Raiders running back takes the ball and barrels his way all the way down to the 2 yard line.

      It wasn't pretty at times, but the Bulldogs got it done.  Yoakum beat Columbus, 30-13, in Hallettsville on Friday, pulling away in the fourth quarter to punch their ticket to the area round for the second consecutive season.
