Posted: Updated:

UHV baseball and softball opened their seasons Friday. Now to opening night for UHV baseball. I was at Riverside for the Jaguars and Trinity. Bottom of the second, a rain delay comes that lasts for about 45 minutes. After the rain stops, Trinity takes a 4-2 lead, with all the runs off starter Jacob Atkinson. Ross Bludau came on in the third. Chase Almandarez with a two-run double for the Jaguars in the third. Joshua Fonseca with a Jaguar RVI, but UHV loses its opener, 5-3. Game two of this series, at Riverside Saturday night at 6:00.  UHV softball gets shutout in its season opener at the Cowtown Classic in Fort Worth, 4-0 by Baker.  Cheyenne Galindo was the losing pitcher. Lisa Sosa had the lone Jaguar hit, a leadoff single in the fourth.  UHV comes back to take game two, 4-0 over Bethel. Calhoun-ex Kelsey Tidrick gets the win, pitching five shutout innings.   Angelica Davidson had an RBI single in the third. and the Jaguars finish up Friday 2-1 in Cowtown. by beating Bethany, 2-1. UHV has back-to-back games on Saturday afternoon starting at 1:00 against Texas Wesleyan. The Jaguars have never played Baker or Oklahoma Wesleyan in their 10-year history, but are familiar opponents with the other three teams, especially Texas Wesleyan.
