UHV Baseball Picked Sixth in Red River Conference Poll

The University of Houston-Victoria baseball team will begin the 2018 season picked to finish sixth in the Red River Athletic Conference. The RRAC Baseball Coaches’ Preseason Poll was released this week with the Jaguars sharing sixth place with Our Lady of the Lake. Both teams received 49 points in the voting.

LSU-Shreveport received six first-place votes and was picked first with 93 points, slightly ahead of LSU-Alexandria. LSUA received three first-place votes and 91 points. Texas A&M-Texarkana notched one first-place vote and was third with 82 points.

Jarvis Christian followed A&M-Texarkana in fourth and University of the Southwest (N.M.) was fifth. Following UHV and OLLU were Huston-Tillotson, Wiley College and Texas College.

The Jaguars finished seventh in the RRAC last season with a 13-14 record.

Our David Gibson, at Ricebird stadium for the Cobras and Rice Consolidated, 3a division one bi-district. First play of the game Rice's Devin Sims takes the hand off and runs for a big gain before being tackled.  On the same drive the Raiders running back takes the ball and barrels his way all the way down to the 2 yard line.

      It wasn't pretty at times, but the Bulldogs got it done.  Yoakum beat Columbus, 30-13, in Hallettsville on Friday, pulling away in the fourth quarter to punch their ticket to the area round for the second consecutive season.
