Salvation Army thrift store re-opens months after Harvey

Posted: Updated:

After months of repairs, the Salvation Army Thrift Store is finally open for business.

The Salvation Army Thrift Store re-opened this morning, months after Hurricane Harvey forced the store to close. The store had major wind and water damage due to the hurricane. The salvation army lost about forty five hundred dollars a month due to the closure, which lasted about four and a half months. Even with the losses,  Store Manager Sabina Reyna says it feels great to finally be open again.

"It feels really great. This has been a long time coming. We've been waiting and we're glad to finally be able to help our customers and the city of Victoria. We're all about Victoria and we try to help as much as we can. And, us being hit by Harvey slowed us a lot down. So, it feels really great to be open again and see all our old customers."

The Salvation Army Thrift Store will expand their store hours in the near future to include Saturdays. The store is accepting donations to increase their inventory. The store lost most of their inventory due to water damage from Hurricane Harvey. If you would like to donate or would like more information, you can call the store at 361-572-3779.
