Original Story 1/9/18:

The Victoria County Sheriff's Office is investigating the deaths of an elderly couple found in their Inez home by a family member after a welfare check.

The incident occurred around 9:55 Tuesday morning at the 100 block of Post Oak Bend. Officials say a family member visited the couple after not hearing from them since Monday. The family member arrived to find the elderly couple dead and immediately called 9-1-1. Deputies arrived at the scene shortly after. Family members of the elderly couple could be seen in tears while one member even collapsed due to the heartbreaking situation. Sheriff T. Michael O'Connor acknowledged the department will assist the family through their difficult grieving period.

"Well, understandably so, when someone comes to a location and finds family members that are deceased, it's pretty hard to deal with. And so, we have a victims liaison that's been on location to assist the family members that were here on location and other family members that have come to the location since then." explained Sheriff O'Connor.

The Sheriff's Office cannot confirm at this time whether foul play was involved in the couple's death.

Sheriff O'Connor added the elderly couple's next of kin have been notified. The investigation into their death is ongoing.
