Damaged Riverside Stadium Turf Removed

Posted: Updated:

The old Field Turf at Riverside Stadium has been ripped up and taken out. Workers from Hellas Construction, based in Austin, told me they started taking out the two-year-old infield turf Wednesday and that maybe they would start installing the new turf Friday. City Of Victoria Public Information Cfficer O.C. Garza tells me the city is applying for FEMA reimbursement for the cost of replacing the turf.  That cost is $204,000. That's because it's a city asset that was ruined by the Guadalupe River flooding caused by Harvey. Mister Garza told me the city is insured for any damage done to Riverside Stadium by Harvey, but that the first step is getting FEMA reimbursement. UHV baseball plans to start pre-season workouts at Riverside on the 15th.
