American Bank collect over 1,000 teddy bears as part of annual drive

American Bank collected over one thousand teddy bears as part of their annual Teddy Bear drive.

The American Bank Holiday Bear Drive is aimed at collecting teddy bears during the holiday to give to women and children in need.  The bears are used to give to the women and children who are in need of comfort and to help rebuild their lives. In total, one thousand three hundred and fourteen bears were donated by employees and customers across all locations. Seventy bears were donated to the Victoria Police Officer's Association while fifty three were donated to the Goliad County Sheriff's Office.  Senior Branch Officer Vickie Newman says it warms her heart knowing law enforcement are putting these bears to good use.

"They carry these teddy bears in their cars so, when they do have an occasion where a child is needing some kind of comfort in a situation, they have those bears on hand. And so, they tell us what it means to them and everyone appreciates knowing that's what happens."

The company also announced the Corpus Christi and Port Aransas locations collected nine hundred and fifty three bears, which will be donated to the Women's Shelter of South Texas and Stuffed with Love for Nueces County Court at Law No. 5. One hundred and fifty bears were collected in Rockport and will be donated to Camp Aranzazu. Finally, American Banks' Austin locations collected eighty eighty teddy bears for Mainspring Schools.

American Bank hopes to expand their outreach to other cities in the future as part of next year's teddy bear drive.
