Three Hospitalized Following Altercation in Goliad Bar

Three people were sent to a Victoria hospital following a New Year’s Eve altercation in a Goliad bar.

One victim was stabbed, while the other two sustained head injuries.

The incident occurred moments after the start of the new year when a fight broke out around a pool table in the Dawg House bar on Courthouse Square.

Christopher Garcia, 44 of Saginaw, TX; Anthony Segura, 43 of Goliad; and Jaclyn Ortiz, 38 of Port Lavaca all sustained injuries and were transported to DeTar Hospital in Victoria by private auto.

Garcia sustained a stab wound in the torso, Segura sustained head injuries after being struck in the head with a pool stick, and Ortiz was rendered temporarily unconscious by a blow to the head with an unknown object. None of the injuries were life-threatening.

According to witnesses, the three injured individuals got into a fight with a male and female around a pool table. It is unknown what triggered the dispute.

The suspects fled the scene following the altercation.

Investigating deputies have identified the two suspects; however, their names are not being released until arrest warrants are issued.

The investigation is continuing.
