Local Athletes Signed With Colleges Today and 5A All State Team Announced

In Cuero, tight end Bralen Taylor signed with the Baylor Bears. Taylor was the second leading receiver for the Cuero Gobblers this season with 32 catches for 612 yards and six touchdowns.

Yoakum football had two players sign with SEC West schools today.  Jordan Moore of Yoakum, first team all-state defensive back, will sign with Texas A&M, while first team all-state  offensive lineman Silas Robinson signed with Arkansas. Jordan Moore led the Bulldogs in rushing with 1468 yards and 16 touchdowns. He also led the Bulldogs in receiving with 29 catches for 732 yards and 11 touchdowns. His 2200 all-purpose yards ranked first for Yoakum, and he also led the team with three interceptions.


The 2017 AP Sports Editors Class 5A All State Team was announced today. Senior offensive linemen Brycen Castillo from Victoria West made 1st team all state. Castillo did not give up any sacks and had 60 pancake blocks this season. Victoria East's Punter Jack Traugott made 2nd team all state.
