Tidehaven knocked out of playoffs against Lexington

Posted: Updated:

The Tidehaven Tigers were knocked out of the Texas Football Class 3A D2 Playoffs tonight, losing to the Lexington Eagles 58 to 39. The Tidehaven Tigers entered this game as unbeaten district champs in the regular season and two convincing wins in the playoffs against Florence and Skidmore-Tynan. Lexington were also unbeaten entering this game, with a 12-0 record during the regular season.

As the game started, Lexington got an early start reeling off run after run before being stopped two yards from the Tidehaven end zone on a fourth and goal. Lexington would have a chance to respond one drive later and did just that, punching in a touchdown off a 51 yard run from Running back Ja'Kobe Cooper. Tidehaven would respond quickly, with Quarterback Bryce Galvan throwing a bomb to Wide Receiver James Carter for an 89 yard touchdown. From there, Lexington would take control of the game, scoring 23 points in the 2nd quarter to put them up 30 to 13 at the half.

Tidehaven attempted to comeback in the 3rd, scoring 20 points in the quarter. However, Lexington was too much in this game, finishing the game off with two touchdowns in the fourth, putting the game out of reach.

Tidehaven finish the season 11-1, ending an otherwise excellent season on a disappointing note. Lexington will move on to the Class 3A D2 Quarterfinals against the Boling Bulldogs.
