Area H.S. Volleyball Players Make All-State

Six area high school volleyball players, picked to the Texas Girls Coaches Association All-State team. Three members of Goliad's two-time state 3A champions get All-State honors, and they're all juniors. Kaci Hotz gets the honor for the second straight year, while Amaya Brown and Kelly Thomas are All-State picks for the first time. Brown was named Most Outstanding Player for the state 3A tournament. Brown and Hotz also have been chosen to play in the Texas Girls Coaches Association All-Star game. Two Industrial Cobras make the Texas Girls Coaches Association 3A All-State team, and both are All-State for the second straight year. Savhannah Kitchens will sign Monday with Texas Lutheran, and Chloe Darilek was All-State last year with Stockdale. Also, the Cobras' Maddison Heibel, chosen to play in the Texas Girls Coaches Association All-Star game. Bailey Machacek of Shiner, getting Texas Girls Coaches Association 2A All-State honors. Here are the area high school volleyball players receiving Texas Girls Coaches Association Academic All-State recognition:  2A, Alyssa Varela, Refugio; Bailey Machacek, Bethany Nevlud and Kailey Williams, Shiner; Kaylee Dueser and Madison Hickman, Yorktown; 3A, Caitlyn Deem, Avery Drummond and Kenna Lange, Hallettsville; Chloe Darilek, Savhannah Kitchens and Lexey Mikulec, Industrial; Sarah Filip and Elizabeth Ortiz, Palacios; Lauren Caka, Desiree Miller and Hannah Stansberry, Yoakum; 4A, Rachel Pustejovsky, El Campo. Goliad defeated Callisburg for the state 3A title, while the Tigerettes downed Industrial for the Regional championship for the second straight year.
