Black Friday shopping continues at Academy

Posted: Updated:

Black Friday shopping continues and Academy has found themselves very busy this holiday weekend.

The sports and outdoors retail store reopened it's doors this morning to a wave of shoppers eager to get the store's best deals. Store management says the black Friday weekend is their busiest time of the year and they are working hard to make sure customers have a safe and pleasant shopping experience. They also say they are ready for the busy holiday season.

When talking about Black Friday, Operations Manager Kevin Patek had this to say: "We just certainly look at it as a holiday season, this just being the kickoff to it. This is really the big day to kick it off and as we get closer to the holidays, it just continues to grow. So, we look at it as an entire season."

While customers rushed to buy gifts for their friends and family, we spoke to Black Friday shopper Edward Oakes who says he understands the true benefit of Black Friday weekend.

"Uhh, Black Friday weekend; it's good. Good for businesses here in town and stuff. But, it is kind of it's own event. This is where the businesses can really profit and have some good goals and good customers to come out."

Academy will close tonight at 11 PM and will reopen tomorrow morning at 8.
