Business Report: Oil prices rise one-third since summer

Posted: Updated:

Oil prices have risen by about one-third since summer amid stronger global economic growth and fears of instability in the middle east.  But, prices still remain below their 2014 peaks.  US production is high, leading some experts to believe the higher prices won't last long.  One place consumers are likely to feel the pinch - air fares.  Jet fuel accounts for about one-third of an airline's operating costs, rivaling labor as the biggest expense - and with oil in the mid $60's a barrel, some analyst expect airlines to attempt to raise ticket prices.
