Local FEMA office to close in December

Posted: Updated:

During Commissioner's Court, Victoria County officials announced the FEMA office at the Pattie Dodson Health Center will be shutting down next month.

County officials say the FEMA office will shut down on December 8th, nearly three and a half months after Hurricane Harvey made landfall. FEMA also announced the deadline for individual assistance applications will be on November 30th, giving residents who have applied for individual aid an additional week to have their questions answered in person. Victoria Emergency Management Coordinator Rick McBrayer says residents who miss the application deadline still have options.

"So, what they can still do is if they miss that deadline they can still register through disasterassistance.gov and/or call the 1-800 FEMA number that's been published and is out there and they will assist the person on the eligibility on whether they can still be able to apply or not."

If you have not applied for individual aid yet, you can call 1-800-621-3362 to speak to a FEMA representative.
