After the Storm Update - Victoria Parks & Recreation

Although Riverside Park remains closed following Hurricane Harvey, the Victoria Parks & Recreation Office is open and can be reached by calling 361-485-3200 or email parks@victoriatx.org.

Park Closures:
* All 16 parks in the City are closed until further notice.
* Both splashpads are closed for the season and will re-open in Spring 2018.

Mosquito Spraying:
The Parks & Recreation Department continues spraying for mosquitoes both morning and evening throughout the City.

Event Cancellations:
* The Summer of Cinema Movie Night featuring “The Secret Life of Pets” scheduled on Sept. 9 has been cancelled.

Community Center Reservation Cancellations:
* All reservations for the month of September at the Victoria Community Center have been cancelled. Reservations will be rescheduled or refunded.

Fall Sports Leagues:
* The start date for the Adult Fall Leagues is postponed. Please check the Victoria Parks & Recreation Facebook page for information and updates regarding Fall Leagues and registrations.

Riverside Golf Course:
* Damage assessment at Riverside Golf Course will be performed soon. Individuals with a Cart Shed Lease at the Golf Course are asked to contact Parks & Recreation at 485-3200 to schedule an appointment to gain access to their shed.

An estimated 50.9 million people are expected to travel 50 miles or more to get to their holiday destinations over the four-day weekend - the most since 2005. A vast majority of those traveling for Thanksgiving will be driving - about 45.5 million, up more than three percent from last year.

    • Registration deadline for disaster assistance now November 30

      The deadline for FEMA disaster assistance has been extended to November 30th. Federal assistance includes help for temporary housing, rental assistance and repair or replacement of damaged homes for eligible individuals and families who have suffered losses as a result of Hurricane Harvey.

      AUSTIN - Governor Greg Abbott and First Lady Cecilia Abbott today volunteered with Meals on Wheels in Austin, helping deliver Thanksgiving meals to those in need. Prior to visiting several homes in the Austin area to deliver meals, the Governor and First Lady First also met with fellow volunteers at the Meals on Wheels Kitchen as they picked up their deliveries.

      The Salvation Army is preparing for another red kettle season and last they came up shy of 100 thousand and this year they want to aim for $120 thousand.
