The Company Taps Former eHealth CFO, Diamond Foods GC, and Yelp CFO to Continue Disruption in the Meal Kit and Grocery Industries
SAN FRANCISCO, June 13, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Sun Basket, a fast-growing healthy, organic meal kit service delivering the highest-quality organic and non-GMO ingredients, as well as delicious, easy-to-make recipes weekly to your door, today announced two new hires to the company and a new member of the Board of Directors. Stuart Huizinga will serve as Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Isobel Jones as General Counsel, and Rob Krolik will join Sun Basket's Board of Directors. Each new member of the Sun Basket team brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise within their respective career fields that will continue to develop the company's financial foundation as it grows its business on a national scale.
With more than 30 years of experience in the tech space, Stuart Huizinga joins Sun Basket as CFO, bringing deep knowledge of online consumer subscription models tied to healthy living. Huizinga most recently spent 16 years as CFO of eHealth, Inc., the leading online health insurance business, including 10 years during which the company was publicly traded. During his tenure as CFO of eHealth, an internet company at the crossroads of consumer and health, Huizinga scaled their annual revenue from $1 million to almost $200 million. Prior to joining eHealth, Huizinga served as a tech partner at Arthur Andersen LLP, a global CPA firm, and oversaw numerous public offerings of tech companies.
"Sun Basket has established itself as a clear leader in the healthy organic meal kit space, with the potential for incredible growth," said Huizinga. "The company's compelling unit economics, margins, and retention rates have helped Sun Basket drive its rapid growth in a capital efficient manner. The company is primed to disrupt the multi-billion dollar grocery industry, and I look forward to continuing to help the company grow financially."
Rob Krolik, the former CFO of Yelp Inc., has agreed to join the Board of Directors and serve as the company's Audit Committee Chairman. During his five-year tenure as CFO from 2011 to 2016, Yelp's revenues grew from $50 million to more than $700 million, and its worldwide workforce grew to more than 4,000 employees. Krolik has more than 25 years of experience, including CFO positions at both public and private companies, including Yelp, Move, eBay, and DigitalThink. Krolik holds a B.B.A. in Finance from the University of Texas at Austin, is a certified public accountant (inactive), and was selected as a finalist for the Business Times CFO of the Year award. Krolik continues to serve on the board of directors and as audit committee chairman of Shazam Entertainment Ltd.
"As a Sun Basket consumer, the service has become an essential part of my family's weekly routine, a key ingredient to creating game-changing consumer business models," said Rob Krolik. "The company's rigorous data-driven approach combined with its direct-to-consumer organic distribution platform capable of reaching over 96% of Americans uniquely positions the company to create a highly personal experience that can scale to serve a broad array of healthy lifestyle needs. I look forward to helping the company take advantage of the large market opportunity."
Isobel Jones has been hired as Sun Basket's General Counsel. Jones joins Sun Basket with deep and extensive experience in the food space, having previously served as Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of Diamond Foods, Inc., a publicly traded snack food and culinary nut company. Jones served as the General Counsel for Diamond Foods, Inc. from October 2014 to February 2016, when Diamond Foods was acquired by Snyder's-Lance, Inc. Previously, Jones served as the General Counsel and Secretary of Annie's Inc., a leading natural and organic food company now owned by General Mills, General Counsel at Peet's Coffee & Tea, Inc., and Associate General Counsel at Del Monte Foods.
