"I feel overwhelmed. Its barely sinking in.Its been a long journey," Victoria College graduate, Daniel Cervantes said.
Victoria College graduate Daniel Cervantes says it took him 5 years to get his Associate degree and his friend Jonathan Martinez came back to school after taking a 9 year break.
"I'm what you consider a non traditional student. I initially went to college a long time ago and then I went into the workforce for a long time and there was about a nine year gap between me actually going to college and me finishing my degree," Victoria College graduate, Jonathan Martinez said.
Both friends graduated Saturday morning with their Associates of Science degree. They met in calculus class where they went from friends to brothers.
"It was my passion. I love math but I struggle with it as well and my connection with these other guys is they helped me tremendously. Its safe to say I couldn't have done it without them," Cervantes said.
Both graduates plan to continue their education and get Bachelor's degrees in electrical and biomedical engineering to give themselves and their family a better life.
"This is only half way for me because I still have a bachelors that I want to get after this too," Cervantes said.
"I feel like it was the right decision for me as far a trying to make the right decision for me and my family," Martinez said.
