Victoria Islamic Center Sets Groundbreaking Date

Posted: Updated:

An area Mosque is rebuilding after a fire earlier this year.

The Victoria Islamic Center says they are planning to break ground on a new building on May 27, to mark the beginning of Ramadan.

After raising $1.1 Million through a successful GoFundMe campaign the center says they plan to rebuild on the same site of the former Mosque.

They expect construction will take at least six months.

The mosque burned down January 28 during an early morning fire.

The cause of the fire remains undetermined and no one has been charged in the case.
