UHV Softball Players Make All-Conference

Seniors Aubri Hockenbury and Haley Beam were among five UHV softball players named to the Red River Athletic Conference all-conference team.

Both players were named to the first team and were joined by sophomores Gabby Davila, Jamison Dumont and Michelle Revels, who were named to the second team. Revels was named to the second team for the second straight year, while Davila and Dumont earned their first recognition on the team. Revels was also named to the RRAC Champions of Character team for UHV.

Beam is a repeat first team selection to the RRAC team and was chosen this year as a pitcher. She leads the league in ERA, is tied for third in wins and fifth in opponent batting average.

Beam is currently 12-5 on the year with a 1.37 ERA. In 24 appearances she has nine complete games and three shutouts. She has allowed 40 runs on 113 hits and 11 walks, while striking out 55 over 117.2 innings, while opponents are batting .251 against her.

Hockenbury was selected to the team as an outfielder. She is a three-time RRAC Player of the Week selection and is second in the league in home runs, third in hits, RBI and slugging percentage, seventh in runs scored, ninth in batting average and tied for 10th in doubles.

A second-team RRAC selection last year, Hockenbury tied the UHV single-season home run record this season with 15 and she currently leads the team in several offensive categories. 

In 48 games, she has a .399 batting average with 56 RBI and 36 runs and a .797 slugging percentage, She has 59 hits including 12 doubles and a triple to go with her 15 home runs and carries a .452 on-base percentage.

LSU-Alexandria’s Danielle Billings was named the RRAC Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year, while her teammate Marci West was named Pitcher of the Year for the second straight

year. LSUA’s Julinn Torres was named the Defensive Player of the Year and Huston-Tillotson’s Roxanne Rodriguez was named the Coach of the Year.
