Spoelstra named East's head coach in All-Star Game

Miami, FL (Sports Network) - The NBA announced Sunday that Miami Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra was named to guide the Eastern Conference in the NBA All- Star Game.

This is Spoelstra's first appearance as coach in the game and its the second time that a Miami head coach has earned the honor.

Stan Van Gundy led the East squad in the 2005 edition of the game.

In his fifth season at the helm, Spoelstra has guided the Heat to an Eastern Conference-best 30-14 mark this season.
