St. Paul, MN (SportsNetwork.com) - The Minnesota Wild and head coach Mike Yeo agreed to terms on a multi-year contract extension Saturday.
"Mike has done a very good job the last three seasons as our Head Coach and we look forward to his leadership going forward," said Wild general manager Chuck Fletcher.
Yeo, who became the youngest NHL head coach at age 37 when he was elevated to the post on June 17, 2011, has guided the Wild to a 104-82-26 record, including a 43-27-12 mark this season. Minnesota has made back-to-back postseason appearances for the second time in franchise history and advanced to the second round for the first time since 2003 after a Game 7 overtime win at Colorado.
"I am very excited to continue to coach the Minnesota Wild and pursue a Stanley Cup for the State of Hockey," said Yeo. "Our fan support has been amazing and it went to a new level during the playoffs this season. We are all motivated to reward them."
