Brooke Brasseaux posted the low round of the day Monday
and the University of Houston-Victoria women’s golf team made a strong run with
the second lowest team score as they placed fourth at the UT-Brownsville Ocelot
Invitational at South Padre Golf Course.
The Jaguars posted a final round 313 to finish the
36-hole event at 650. First-round leader UT-Pan American strolled to an easy
win posting a final round 302 for a 608 team scored. Texas Wesleyan with a
final round 314 was second at 626, while Texas A&M-Kingsville took third
with a 645 after a final round 321. Host UT-Brownsville finished at 651 and
Texas A&M-International posted a 673.
Along with Brasseaux’s final round 73, Rebecca Benchot
followed with a 77, Caitlin Swisher a 79, Shelbi Vincent an 84 and Haley Harris
an 88. Devon Dueser, playing as a medalist for the Jaguars, posted a final
Swisher paced the Jaguars with a 36-hole score of 160,
while Brasseaux and Benchot followed at 161, with Vincent adding a 168 and
Harris a 176, Dueser tapped in at 173.
The tournament was the final event of the fall
for the Jaguars. UHV will return to action on Feb. 15-17 when they play host to
the second annual Claud Jacobs Collegiate Invitational.
