The University of Houston-Victoria pounded out 29 hits Friday to sweep a pair of five-innings games from Centenary College, 16-2 and 12-0.
Marley Moehrig and Brittany Arredondo combined to go 7-for-7 with six RBI and five runs in the opener. Moehrig, who was 3-for-3 with five RBI had a home run, while Arredondo was 4-for-4 with a double and four runs.
The Jaguars scored in every inning but the third as they jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the first, added two more in the second, picked up six in the fourth and sealed the win with four more in the fifth as they pounded out 14 hits. Krissa Powell added two hits and three RBI and Isabelle Soto also had two hits and scored two runs.
Alex Holland went the distance in the circle allowing two runs on six hits and lost her shutout in the fourth when Centenary plated two runs.
Alicia Fikac went the distance for the Jaguars in Game 2 tossing a three-hit shutout.
Arredondo, Moehrig, Soto, Ashley Shannon, Jena West and Casey Sax each had two hits in the game, while West and Sax each drove in three runs. Naomi Trevino added a pinch-hit two-run home run.
The Jaguars return to action Saturday with a 2 p.m. doubleheader against Southern University.
