University of Houston-Victoria shortstop Ashley Winegeart
has been selected to the CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-District 4 softball
It is the third straight year for the Corpus Christi
senior to be named to the softball all-district team in the college division.
The award is voted on by CoSIDA members and is based on a
players GPA and on-field performance.
Winegeart is now eligible for inclusion on the CoSIDA
Academic All-American team that will be voted on later this month.
The Health Care Administration major has been an
instrumental part of the Jaguars softball team both in the classroom and on the
She is a 2013 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athlete and has
been named to the UHV President’s and Dean’s List on numerous occasions and is
a member of the Beta Gamma sigma honor society. She earned all-conference
second team recognition last year and was just named to the A.I.I.
All-Conference first team.
A four-year starter, she is the Jaguars’ career leader in
starts, games played, hits, runs, walks, assists and multi-hit games. This
season in 44 games she is hitting at a .434 clip with 12 doubles, two triples,
three home runs, 44 RBI, 41 runs and 21 stolen bases.
