University of Houston-Victoria third baseman Marley
Moehrig has been named the Association of Independent Institutions Female
Athlete of the Week for March 11-17.
Moehrig, a 5-foot-6 junior from Victoria, powered the
Jaguars to a 3-1 week with a pair of wins against NCAA Division III Centenary
and a doubleheader split against NCAA Division I Southern University.
The Memorial graduate hit a whooping .818 in the four
games going 9-for-11 at the plate with nine RBI, four runs, two doubles and a
two-run home run. She also compiled a 1.273 slugging percentage and a .667
on-base percentage for the week. In the last two weeks, Moehrig is hitting at a
.708 clip going 17-for-24 at the plate.
In 21 games this season, she has a .433 batting average
where she is 26-for-60 at the plate. She has a team-leading 21 RBIs, a .650
slugging percentage, six doubles and two triples. She has also scored 10 runs,
has one home run and has a .486 on-base percentage.
