UHV Softball Player Earns Award

Alex Holland had her big week on the softball field
payoff as the University of Houston-Victoria senior utility player has been
named the Association of Independent Institutions Conference’s Female Athlete
of the Week for the week of Feb. 17-23.



 



Holland, from Arp, TX, compiled a .52 batting average and
was 2-0 in the circle for the Jaguars who finished the week with a 4-2 record
against Texas Southern, Our Lady of the Lake and Southwestern University.



 



In six games, Holland banged out 10 hits, including two
home runs, a triple and a double, while driving in a team-high nine runs and
scoring four times. She had a 1.000 slugging percentage and a .526 on-base
percentage in the six games.



 



In the circle, she was 2-0 with a 1.62 ERA in wins over
Texas Southern and Our Lady of the Lake. In the Our Lady of the Lake contest
she tossed a three-hitter and allowed just an unearned run. She allowed five
runs on six hits, while striking out six in 13 innings.
