For the sixth straight season, the University of
Houston-Victoria softball team will enter the season ranked in the NAIA
Softball Coaches’ Top 25 Preseason Poll.


The Jaguars enter the 2014 season ranked tied for No. 15
with Oklahoma Baptist. The ranking is three spots higher than the Jaguars ended
the 3013 season with a No. 18 ranking.


The defending Association of Independent Institutions
Conference champions are also ranked No. 2 in the A.I.I. Conference coaches’
poll behind California State-San Marcos. CSUSM is ranked No. 8 in the coaches’
top 25 poll.


The Jaguars have enter the season ranked in the top 20
every year except for the inaugural 2008 season, with their best ranking being
at No. 10 in 2012 and 2013. The Jaguars earned 298 points in the preseason


Along with winning the A.I.I. title, the Jaguars finished
the 2013 season with a 32-22 mark and made their second straight trip, and
third overall, to the NAIA National Championships Opening Round.


After winning their first-ever national title, Concordia
(Calif.) enters the season ranked No. 1 after garnering 20 first-place votes
and 591 points in the preseason poll. Spring Hill (Ala.), with one first-place
vote, is no. 2 with 572 points, while Oklahoma City is No 3, Williams Baptist
(Ark.) is No. 4 and Reinhardt (Ga.) is No. 5.
