University of Houston-Victoria interim head coach Lindsey
Ortiz added her first commitment for the 2015 season when Baytown’s Ma
deline
Herrera committed to the Jaguars softball program this week.

Herrera, a senior at Goose Creek Memorial, is an utility
player that helped her team to the Class 4A bi-district playoffs last season
after finishing fourth in District 24-4A. Goose Creek fell to Richmond Foster
in the playoffs.

Herrera has played third base, second base, shortstop and
even spent time in the outfield for Goose Creek, as well as her travel team –
Houston Power.

“It’s great to get a player the caliber of Madeline as we
expect her to bring big things to our program,” Ortiz said.

Herrera plans to double major in Criminal Justice and
Business while attending UHV.
