The University of Houston-Victoria Jaguars baseball team
will be out to snap a three-game losing streak Saturday when they face the
Texas A&M-Kingsville Javelinas in a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday in
The Jaguars opened the season with a 5-3 win over the
Doane College Tigers, but then dropped their next three games to the Tigers.
Kyle Bludau leads the Jaguars offense after compiling a
.600 batting average with three RBI and three runs in the four-game series.
Ryan Suescun, who went 4-for-5 in the finale of the series, follows with a .471
clip, while Matthew Herrera is hitting at a .429 clip, followed by Joshua
Boothe (.417) and Brandon Bohanon (.400)
Cory Carter, the opening day starter, picked up the Jaguars’
only win for the pitching staff. In the opener Carter worked 5.2 innings
allowing one run on three hits and two walks, while striking out eight.
Following Saturday’s games, the Jaguars will return home
for a three-game series against Wayland Baptist. UHV and WBU will meet in a 1
p.m. doubleheader on Sunday and wrap up the series with a single game on Monday
