UHV baseball won its opening game Monday in the NAIA National Opening Round Series in Jackson, Mississippi. The Jaguars downed Sterling (Kansas), 5-2. Orlando Quiroga got the win, allowing just one earned run over seven innings. Andre Del Bosque pitched a scoreless ninth in relief. Ryan Pearsall drove in two UHV runs, and Jaguar RBI's also came from Kyle Bludau, Stephen Shorkey and Joshua Boothe. UHV plays again in the opening round Monday at 6:00 p.m. vs. top-seeded Oklahoma Wesleyan.
