University of Houston-Victoria centerfielder Chad Kruse
has been named the Association of Independent Institutions Male Athlete of the
Week for March 25-31.



 



Kruse, a 5-foot-10 senior from San Antonio, compiled a
.556 batting average and a .778 slugging percentage in his only action of the
week, a doubleheader sweep against Huston-Tillotson University. In the two
games, he had two doubles, drove in three runs and scored five times in his
nine plate appearances.



 



The New Braunfels Canyon graduate also finished the
two-game sweep with a .556 on-base percentage and recorded five putouts on
defense without committing an error.



 



In 27 games this season, he has a team leading .371
batting average, a .467 on-base percentage, 12 stolen bases and 19 runs scored.
He also shares the team lead with 33 hits and five doubles. He also has one
triple, 14 RBI and a .449 slugging percentage.
