The University of Houston-Victoria Jaguars missed on several scoring opportunities Tuesday and in the end it hurt them in a 3-2 loss to the Texas A&M-International Dustdevils in 14 innings.
The biggest opportunity may have come in the top of the 14th when Kyle Bludau reached on a one-out error and then moved to third on Joshua Boothe's double to right. Robert Zaragoza the flied to center and Bludau was thrown out at the plate trying to score to end the inning for the Jaguars (3-7).
The Dustdevils (3-1) then used a bunt single, a sacrifice and two more singles to plate the game-winning run with two outs.
Using solo runs in the first and fifth, the Dustdevils took a 2-0 lead until the Jaguars tied the game in the seventh. Brian Harvey and Blake Diver each drew walks before moving to second and third on a sacrifice bunt by Dylan Blaha. Ryan Suescun then followed with a two-run single to left.
The Jaguars missed another opportunity in the top of the ninth when the loaded the bases with one out, but the Dustdevils worked out of the jam without giving up a run.
Andre Del Bosque was tagged with the loss for the Jaguars after pitching 7.1 innings of relief and allowing just the one run on three hits and one walk, while striking out 10
