A brand new local high school sporting event made its debut Friday morning. The U.S. Marine Corps 4-On-4 Crossroads high school competition attracted 15 teams of four competitors from area high schools like East, West, Calhoun, Cuero and Yoakum. the events in the competition were the 1600 meter relay, the maneuver and buddy drag, pull ups, push ups and the ammunition can lift. Instead of live ammo in the can, there was 30 pounds of sand. Awards went to the top male and female teams, and this was sponsored by the Marine Corps recruiting station in Victoria to promote physical fitness and a healthy spring break. The winning female team was from Yoakum high school (Kaitlyn Anzualda, Leslie Garcia, Anna Karen Cabello, Desiree Garza); the winning male team, the Attack Squad from West, which included tony navarro, who just signed to play football at Texas Lutheran. Along with Navarro were John Hill, Jason Medellin and Ray Garza.
