Houston, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - The Houston Texans signed free-agent safety Kendrick Lewis Friday, with the Houston Chronicle reporting the deal to be a one-year contract.

A fifth-round choice of Kansas City in the 2010 draft, Lewis started 50 games during his four seasons with the Chiefs. The 25-year-old recorded seven interceptions over that span, though six came over his first two years.

Lewis made 15 regular-season starts and one in the playoffs for the Chiefs in 2013, compiling 56 tackles, one interception and four passes defensed prior to the postseason.

The move reunites Lewis with new Texans defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel, Kansas City's head coach during the Ole Miss product's second and third seasons in the league in 2011 and 2012.
