St. Joseph baseball picked up its first two wins of the season Thursday at the Gonzales tournament. The Flyers beat the host team, 5-0, with Jerry Vasquez tossing a two-hitter with ten strikeouts. A.J. Calvo had two hits and an RBI. St. Joe then beat Wimberley, 5-2, with Sam Poland getting the win, going the distance, allowing just six hits. Eric Alvarez drove in a run. The Flyers next play at Gonzales Friday afternoon at 2:30 vs. Elgin.
