Reds, Bailey avoid arbitration with one-year deal

Cincinnati, OH (Sports Network) - The Cincinnati Reds avoided arbitration with Homer Bailey by agreeing to a one-year contract with the right-hander on Saturday.

The deal is reportedly worth $5.35 million. Bailey filed at $5.8 million, while the club offered $4.75 million.

Bailey went 13-10 with a 3.68 ERA in a career-high 33 starts in 2012. He also set new career bests in wins, innings (208), strikeouts (168) and quality starts (21).

The 26-year-old is 38-33 with a 4.50 ERA in 111 career games with the Reds.
