Philadelphia, PA ( - The Detroit Red Wings have placed forward Johan Franzen back on injured reserve after the ailing veteran had a recurrence of concussion-like symptoms in his return to the lineup on Sunday.

Franzen had sat out 16 consecutive games due to a concussion sustained on Dec. 15 before participating in Detroit's 5-4 shootout loss to Florida on Sunday. He did travel with the Red Wings for Tuesday's game in Philadelphia, but told the team he wasn't feeling well afterward and is expected to return to Michigan to meet with a neurological specialist.

The 34-year-old Swede has been limited to just 31 games this season due to injuries, recording nine goals and 14 assists over that period.

Detroit will have center Joakim Andersson back in action for Tuesday's matchup with the Flyers. He has sat out the club's last six contests with a lower-body injury.
