Toronto, ON (SportsNetwork.com) - The Boston Red Sox placed shortstop Xander Bogaerts on the seven-day concussion disabled list on Monday.

The 21-year-old Bogaerts was removed from Friday's game after being hit in the head by a pitch from Seattle pitcher Felix Hernandez. Bogaerts is hitting .223 with eight homers, 30 RBI and 47 runs scored over 118 games this season.

To fill Bogaerts' spot on the roster, Boston called up Carlos Rivero from Triple-A Pawtucket.
