REFUGIO - While the football season is over, the Refugio High School Bobcats' baseball team will continue through the playoffs without star pitcher Travis Quintanilla, according to multiple sources including a statistician for the Bobcats, and opposing team coaches.
According to Refugio Police Chief Andy Lopez, Ray "Travis" Quintanilla was arrested around 11p.m. Monday May 5, 2014 and charged with driving while intoxicated.
According to Quintanilla's Facebook page, it was his 19th birthday.
Refugio County Sheriff's Office officials said he posted a $3,000 bond Tuesday and was released.
Quintanilla was the all-time Texas High School Football leader in career passing yards and passing touchdowns, and he led the bobcats to two of the past three state 2A Division II Championship games, winning the state title in 2011.
In February, Quintanilla signed to play football and baseball with Texas A&M University-Kingsville. The university had no comment on the status of his scholarship.
Chief Lopez said he is preparing the arrest report, and the case will be forwarded to the county attorney.
