Pittsburgh, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Pittsburgh Pirates claimed pitcher Josh Wall off waivers from the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim on Thursday and optioned him to Triple-A Indianapolis.

Wall appeared in two games with the Angels this season, surrendering six runs on five hits and three walks in just one inning of work.

The 27-year-old right-hander went 0-0 with one save and a 4.22 earned run average in eight relief appearances with the Angels' Triple-A affiliate in Salt Lake this season.

To make room on the 40-man roster, Pittsburgh designated pitcher Phil Irwin for assignment.
