Pittsburgh, PA (Sports Network) - Pittsburgh Penguins star center Evgeni Malkin will not play in Sunday's game against the New York Islanders after sustaining an upper-body injury the previous day.

Playing for only the third time since sitting out 10 days with a concussion, Malkin did not return for overtime in Saturday's 5-4 win over Toronto after taking a hard hit from the Maple Leafs' James van Riemsdyk in the third period.

Penguins head coach Dan Bylsma did tell reporters on Sunday that Malkin's injury is unrelated to his prior concussion, with the reigning Hart Trophy winner currently undergoing further evaluation.

Malkin, who missed four games due to the concussion, had a goal and two assists after returning to the Penguins' lineup.
